A lot of people ask me about Stonehedge or Stonehendge or hit my site with search terms like:
stonehedge englandIn fact just recently a very good friend went to Stonehenge and told me they had thought is was Stonehedge almost her whole life. Unfortunately there is not much we can do to stop misspelling or miscommunication. This just shows you that no matter how popular you might think a landmark is, wrong information can be passed around consistently. Luckily this site is here in hope to fix those mistakes like Stonehedge and give people the right spelling and understanding of this wonderful megalith. There are actually places or locations called Stonehedge and we do not want to stop visitors from finding the right information, just make sure they are not looking for Stonehenge information.
Stonehenge (not Stonehedge) is a group of standing stones on Salisbury Plain in southern England. Dating to c. 2000-1800 B.C., the megaliths are enclosed by a circular ditch and embankment that may date to c. 2800. The arrangement of the stones suggests that Stonehenge was used as a religious center and also as an astronomical observatory.
